As
a breastfeeding mother, all I needed was a small bag to be out with baby.
Just about any bag can be turned into a baby diaper bag. I personally
love using bags that look stylish and are not of baby-like colours.
The one I loved carrying the most when our youngest was a baby, was black
messenger bag with shoulder straps and I use it for work as well.
The other favourite I had was a backpack like the one in the photo below,
that just looks like any other fashionable ladies backpack! No *hint*
of it holding diapers and baby stuff !
What's in the bag?
1. Wet Baby Wipes.
I buy the thin
travel packs, and look for those which are nice, soft & thick,
and have a resealable cover.
2. Diapers.
I use the thinnest that
I can find. These are either the Ultra-Slim Huggies' Brand or similar
- there are quite a fair bit of choices in the stores these days!
Even 4 or 5 of these diapers do not take up much space in the baby bag
because they are so very thin!
3.
Waterproof Baby Changing Mat.
This came with a baby bag
that I earlier had - a Land's End Mini Tripper, so I just used this because
it's just the right size! Now, you could probably find similar baby
changing mats sold without the diaper bags in stores like Mothercare.
We also carry a diapering
kit that has a handy diaper changing mat.
4. A zip-up pouch containing:
- plasters. Just in
case the kids want them
- travel-size baby powder.
- pocket tissue packs
- antiseptic wash gel (for
my hands after changing baby and there's no sink/water ).
- travel-size baby lotion
(more for me, really)
5. Wallet
6. For My Work:
- Cheque Book
- Cardholder
- Notebook
- Pen
7. In the side-pocket
- small comb
- powder compact
- lipstick
- lipgloss (this is one
of my most indispensible items!)
8. HandPhone
9. Small Snacks for the baby
or older kids
10. small-sized toys for
the baby/older kids.
Sounds like a lot of things? Well, not so. The bag I carry is really quite small & compact. All the things can fit inside because they are all pretty small too!
If
you're like me though, the list of things that are in your bag may get
smaller & smaller with experience and with each child you have.
For Mommies who use the Sarong
Baby Carrier, what might work best would be a hip-hugger pouch.
Or you might find the Sling
Pouch Pocket to be sufficient - depending on your style!
The hip-hugger pouch that I use occasionally, is a stylish one of just the right size in black . Can carry:
