Sling Carrying Instructions: [Cradle Hold]  [Snuggle Hold]  [Lying Down [Hip Carry [Kangaroo [Piggy Back

KANGAROO-HOLD (4 months onwards)

You may use either arm or either shoulder interchangeably.  For purposes of easier illustration, we have used the arm/shoulder that is seen in the photos in the descriptions.

STARTING BASICS
T1) Loop the Tail through 2 rings.
Then put over the nearest ring, and under the next.  Spread the tail evenly around the rings

T2) Put Sling with label & rings facing front on one shoulder.
T3) Pass the Sling OVER your head to rest on the other shoulder, so that the sling is slung diagonally over your body.

This shoulder portion should rest nicely and broadly over your shoulder for even weight distribution while carrying your child.

T4) Ensure that the back portion of the sling fabric is not twisted but evenly spread with the edges roughly parallel.

STEPS FOR KANGAROO CARRY
This position is good for babies with fairly good head control

Snuggle
K1). Prepare Sling pouch.  Spread pouch open. Pull inner edge of sling pouch against your chest, below the breasts.

Kangakanga
K2) Put baby facing forward, crossing the legs in a seated position.  Their back should be against the inner edge of the sling pouch, against your chest.
kanga
K3) Hold baby at the height you want (generally just above your waist level). Support baby with one arm (leaning back if necessary). Then pull the outer edge of the sling pouch to wrap over the baby's chest.
kanga
K4) While supporting baby and sling (you may need to sit down or lean backwards slightly for this), bring ALL *excess* fabric from the sling pouch towards the side of the rings.

K5)  Support baby's weight, then pull gently on the sling's tail to adjust away the excess fabric from the sling pouch.
kanga
K6) Once you have about the right size of sling pouch, pull lightly on the outer and inner edges of the tail to further adjust pouch so that it can become a snug fit.

eg. if the top part of the sling pouch is still a little bit loose, then pull on the edge of the tail that would adjust that portion (as in photo)
kanga
K7) Baby's legs may be crossed in the sling pouch.

If you do not wish your baby's legs to be crossed while in a front-facing position, you may put baby to sit in a sideway position.
eg. if you have your rings on the right hand side of your body, you can have your baby sitting sideways with his back against your left arm.  His legs will then be stretch out over the front of your body towards the rings on your right side.  This could even be considered a modified Hip-carry position (except the legs are INSIDe the pouch).
Kangaroo
K8) Many babies enjoy this position where they
have a  good view of the world around them!
