Sarah, who is in Primary 2, drew up a 1-week Time-Table, and put in all the places she wanted to go for the week. Her plan's not too bad and we had quite a bit of fun for the week. We share this plan with you - try it out yourself!
Day 1: Trip to the Singapore Airport. Timmy was especially interested in the Aeroplanes, the Choo-choo Train and the SkyTrain. And of course the lunch treat at KFC.
Day 2: The Singapore
Science
Centre
This was really fun.
We did not have time to fully cover everything. Of special
mention
would be the "Discovery Zone". This hands-on children's science
exhibition
is designed for children between 4-12 years, but even Timmy had great
fun
there! The children loved the shadow screen, making music by
movements/lights,
waterplay and especially the air-pressure message tunnel!
Day 3: Swimming
We went to the Jurong East
Swimming Complex. Situated opposite the Chinese Garden, this has
a Lazy River, tube slides, wave pool, mushroom pool, fun-filled
playpool.
The older kids went literally wild, but I must say that Timmy being
younger
was not quite as adventurous. He was a little overwhelmed by the
waterguns,
waves, fountains and clung to me all the time. After an hour or
so,
he even refused to do anything and asked to eat ice-cream only!
You
could also check out the Choa
Chu Kang pool which Sarah
loves.
Day 4: The Zoo
As always, we went to the
zoo, a perennial favourite with the children. Convenient too as
it's
near our home and we are "Friends of the Zoo". We also recently
renewed
our membership to include the Bird Park at no extra cost - really good
value for money. Especially when you have young children and do not
wish
to cover the whole park in one day. Each time we go, we would
plan
to cover only one section of the zoo a time, spending only 2 to 3 hours
at most, so that neither we nor the children get too tired out.
There's
just so much to do there! And now that Sarah is older, she really
enjoys reading up about all these animals. Each time she seems to
discover something new!
Day 5: The Park
Went to Sembawang Park
which
is near the Seaside (Johor Straits). Cool & breezy. The
children enjoyed cycling up the little "hills" and around the
park.
There are many mature trees in this park. Would be very good grounds to
explore the different types of leaves, patterns, groupings, etc.
Day 6: Movie Treat
We had booked a whole
cinema
for 68 at Orchard Cineplex to watch the popular "I Not Stupid" by Jack
Neo. This was organised by the Asia
Parents' Group. It was a really funny movie!
All-in, it was an enjoyable week-long holiday with the children. And...there were still places that we had not managed to go to!
