BLANKET
If the temperature gets cold, the Sarong
Sling is a very convenient cover. If you are carrying the baby in
the sling, just bring the upper edge (or outer edge, depending on which
position you're using) of the sling over the baby's shoulder, or even
up
pass the ears & head. This will shield the baby from cold
winds.
In Singapore or other hot countries, it would be good in sheltering
from
dust in the air & roads.
You can
also use the sarong sling to simply
cover the baby if he's sleeping in the carseat, in the stroller, on the
floor.
SHELTER
When the sun is hot, or if it's only
drizzling,
I will use the tail portion of the sarong sling to cover the baby while
I walk to the nearest building, car, or other shelter. Also good
for shielding baby from strong winds.
DISCREET
COVER FOR BREASTFEEDING &
PUMPING
You can use the tail as an additional
cover when trying to latch the baby on to breastfeed. This may be
especially useful in the initial few months when baby is still young
and
need help with latching-on. OR if you're like me who likes to
pump
milk in the car, you'll find the sarong sling to be a very effective
cover
from people in passing trucks & buses! Just have your pump funnels
on, and drape the sling (still looped) over the funnels. It
really
works.
TROLLEY
HARNESS
Most shopping trolleys in Singapore do
not have safety belts attached. For added safety, after putting
baby
in, I place the sarong sling around the baby's chest, and around the
seat
of the shopping trolley, then tighten the fit by pulling the tail
through
the rings. It's even better if you take the trouble to thread the
sarong sling between the metal rails of the trolley seat. As for
the excess tail fabric, I just fold it up & place behind baby for
extra
cushioning!
TODDLER
HARNESS
You can also use it as a harness for a
walking toddler so that he won't run too far from you.
TRICYCLE
HARNESS
Another
great use is for the toddler who WANTS to cycle, can push the tricycle
pedals, but does not have enough strength to keep up with his/her older
siblings or cycle up a hill slope. Tie the sarong sling to the
tricycle
under the handlebars and put one side on top of the "honk". I
could
also use the sling to help regulate the tricycle's speed when it was
going
down a slope - just pull on the sling but you have to be standing
behind
the tricycle.
MAT
Just place the sarong sling on the floor
or field, and the baby has a convenient place to lie down & stretch
his limbs! Our young baby also loved this while watching his
Daddy
play his remote control car.
CLOTH
If you need a cloth but don't have one
on hand, the tail of the sarong sling comes in handy! But... do
wash
the sling when you get home later!
FOR PLAY
Place one end folded into your drawer, and
the other secured on your bed, and your toddler will have a little
"tent" to imagine play under! Other children have used it to play
"Lion Dance" with their other siblings.
Oh, and we
did find it VERY useful recently
for tying our goods trolley to the back of our car seat so that it does
not shift and knock around the back of the car!!!
