Sling Carrying Instructions: [Cradle Hold]  [Snuggle Hold]  [Lying Down [Hip Carry [Kangaroo [Piggy Back

SNUGGLE-HOLD (Newborn onwards)

You may use either arm or either shoulder interchangeably.  For purposes of easier illustration, we have used the arm/shoulder that is seen in the photos in the descriptions.

STARTING BASICS
sling
T1) Loop the Tail through 2 rings.
Then put over the nearest ring, and under the next.  Spread the tail evenly around the rings

T2) Put Sling with label & rings facing front on one shoulder.
T3) Pass the Sling OVER your head to rest on the other shoulder, so that the sling is slung diagonally over your body.

This shoulder portion should rest nicely and broadly over your shoulder for even weight distribution while carrying your child.

T4) Ensure that the back portion of the sling fabric is not twisted but evenly spread with the edges roughly parallel.

STEPS FOR SNUGGLEHOLD

Snuggle
S1). Prepare Sling pouch.

Pull  inner edge of sling pouch from the back to the front, across your chest just below your breasts.

S2) Place baby high up on your shoulder opposite the rings as you pull the inner edge of the sling pouch across your chest.

S3) Hold baby so that baby is placed against the inner edge of sling pouch.   Support baby with one arm.  You may need to lean back a little while supporting baby.
Now pull  the outer edge of the sling pouch from your back, wrapping it over the
baby's back.

S4) Seat baby down  in the sling pouch thus  formed.  Baby's legs may be crossed in the sling pouch (for newborns).

Older babies may have their legs OUTSIDE the sling pouch. In such a case, the edge of sling pouch will have to be wrapped all the way so that it covers the whole baby's bottom and  is just around the baby's knees.  Baby's  bottom will be lower than his knees and he will be seated on the sling pouch like a chair.  Do see  photo on the above for a good example.

S5)   While supporting  baby with your arm, adjust sling pouch by pulling gently on  the tail to size the pouch down.  You may need to lean back with baby on your chest for this adjustment.

S6) Sling pouch may still not be a snug fit yet.  Support baby's weight and pull on the outer and inner edges of the tail to adjust away any loose  portions of the sling pouch.  This way, every section of the sling pouch can become nice and snugly fitted.

S7 )  Newborn babies especially love this womb-like position where they are close to your heartbeat.

For greater support, wrap the outer edge of the sling pouch up to the neck for younger babies.  Babies will usually turn their heads so that one side of their head  will be against your chest, as if they are listening with comfort to your heartbeat.

This position is useful after feedings when babies need to be upright and feel warmth against their tummies as  babies *burp* easily in this upright position.
Note that your child should be around waist level and no lower.  Any lower, and you will feel back strain
